Instrumental Music Program: This diocesan directed program offers in-school instrumental music instruction once a week to students in Grades 4 to 8. A lesson and band instruction are included in the monthly fee which is not covered by tuition. Concerts are held twice a year usually at Christmas and in the Spring.
Drama: The annual school play is held in May. Students in sixth, seventh and eighth year look forward to the date for try-outs and the time spent after school preparing for opening night. Students in K to 5 participate in class room plays which often are performed on our stage. Students travel to the Pgh. Playhouse, and other theaters, for live theatrical productions.
Math 24: The Math teachers in Levels 2 through 8 support the FirstinMath on line competition. ZEach student is assigned to a team and can work on-line with Challenge 24 in school and at home. A Wall of Fame keeps the school posted on how the teams are doing and how individuals are scoring also!
Major trips: The upper level students spend a day at the Challenger Learning Center in West Virginia or sample the river water while studying on the Pittsburgh Voyager. Eighth Year students are invited to join the parish group traveling to Washington, D.C. for the March for Life each Jan. 22. Younger students visit a Pumpkin Patch, farm, The Carnegie Science Center and Museums and the Live Nativity in Mt. Lebanon.

Competitions: The National Geography Bee, Spelling Bees, Challenge 24 and the Bishop Canevin Quiz Bowl are events that require multi-practices after school in preparation for the school competitions held in the gym.
Contests: The teachers are alert to a wide variety of contests sponsored by state, local, and national organizations. Students are encouraged to participate to help develop their skills in art, creativity, language, writing, etc. Several first graders have had their work published as winners in a national writing contest.
